As an umbrella organization, Break the Gridlock brings together a network of member grass roots organizations encouraging the use of right transportation solutions that reduce America's dependency on the private automobile.

This structure helps member organizations to carry out activities that could not be easily accomplished alone, by taking advantage of:

  • economies of scale;
  • a larger pool of experts and experience;
  • shared apprenticeship and exchange of know-how;
  • a sense of community and support that helps advocates and activists derive utility from multilateral and shared activities;
  • an increased brand/public awareness.

Services for Member Organizations

Break the Gridlock is equipped to provide member organizations with the following services:

    • Website development and maintenance
    • Domain registration and e-mail services
    • Integrated calendaring
    • Email list services
    • Membership/contact database management
    • Donation/dues management
  • Financial services
    • Grantee name of record
    • Shared bank account
  • Organizational services
    • Media and public relations (including creating and distributing press releases to print and broadcast media)
    • Central point of contact for small, unstaffed member organizations (including phone/fax number, mailing address)

Services for Individuals

Break the Gridlock can provide the following services to individuals committed to right transportation:

  • Assistance with forming a new organization
  • Networking with others in the Break the Gridlock community
  • Media/promotion services to build interest and public awareness of new groups.

Coalition Building

Organizations can greatly increase their impact by networking, forming coalitions, and joining campaigns that promote shared goals. Break the Gridlock will pursue such affiliations wherever they offer the opportunity to advance the goals set forth in Break the Gridlock's mission and vision statements.
